| Nepal cabinet, jaundiced in body and in view?
Kathmandu, Feb 2 (IANS) A jaundiced outlook could be behind Nepal's troubles, says the kingdom's columnists, literally. Currently, five ministers in Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala's cabinet are down with jaundice, hepatitis and other illnesses. Deputy Prime Minister K.P. Oli, who has toured an enviable number of foreign countries in his capacity as foreign minister since May, is now confined to a hospital bed at Kathmandu's Maharajgunj Teaching Hospital, where he has been diagnosed with hepatitis. Four of his cabinet colleagues are also on sick bed. Commerce, Industry and Supplies Minister Hridayesh Tripathi, who hit the headlines last week with his resignation to protest against the government's ignoring of the demands of protesters in the Terai plains for an autonomous state, did it from his sick bed.
Meshuggah Nuns- a new musical is making its way around the country
It's taken two thousand years to reach a rapprochement between Christians and Jews, but the moment has finally come! A new musical called Meshuggah Nuns is now making its way around the country, stopping at various theaters, even Jewish theaters. Though the material makes one feel squeamish at times, and the corn is high as an elephant's eye (to quote Rodgers and Hammerstein's "Oklahoma"), it is nonetheless a message of tolerance and infinite good will. In this improbable tale, a bevy of nuns connect with a Jewish actor who has stumbled into their midst. Each proceeds to show warmth and respect for the other's customs and faiths, as they sing and dance and tell corny jokes. It's Dan Goggin's latest development in his "Nunsense" series, a show theme which he has turned into a cottage industry.
Heart disease: leading cause of death among women
Many women today do not recognize heart disease as being the leading problem and cause of death among women. In fact, if asked, most women would name cancer as the greatest health problem facing women and the leading cause of death. Yet, the American Heart Association estimates that one in two women will eventually die of heart disease or stroke, compared with one in 25 who will eventually die of breast cancer. Unfortunately, many women are uncertain of specific aspects of heart disease and most don't understand the risk from this serious health threat."Cardiovascular disease includes diseases of the heart and blood vessels. Heart and blood vessel problems develop over time and occur when arteries that supply the heart or brain with blood slowly become clogged from a buildup of cells, fat and cholesterol," said Dr.
Kicking Super Bowl habit
It is the revenge of the Stupor Bowl, perhaps. A portion of the American population will not be watching the big game today. They are Super Bowl challenged, Super Bowl clueless. Many are just plain Super Bowl oblivious. They do not know that in a few hours, the nation will be knee-deep in chili and Buffalo wings and chocolate cakes shaped like footballs. They do not comprehend the hoopla over giant linesmen; the halftime show escapes them entirely. They are clueless about sports announcers who make solemn pronouncements about "the halfback pass," and they puzzle over whirling special effects that confine the actual game to about a third of the television screen. Ask them who's playing, and they stare off into space and say, "Uh-h-h, Joe Namath?" Oh, the anti-Super population means no harm.
